Rose is an independent, nonprofit (called a "vzw" in Belgium) and volunteer organization based in Leuven. Its mission is to support and foster basic education for children from economically disadvantaged rural communities in developing countries. • On 21-22, February 2009, Rose vzw participated in the 17th annual Asian fair organized by Belasia vzw. BELASIA is a Belgian not-for-profit organization founded in 1992. Aim of the association is to promote the social, cultural and economic relations with Asian countries and their inhabitants. Cooperation, friendship and mutual understanding are the keywords. • Chetan Singh Solanki, co-founder of ROSE, has provided 540 solar lanterns to rural schools across India for free, with financial support from ROSE and other organizations. This has enabled 16,000 underprivileged children to pursue their studies in evening schools. More news here !

• Rose vzw participated in BROEDERLIJK DELEN promotional events which was held on 23rd January, at Kessel-Lo and 26th January, at Wemmel. The main theme of both the events was to promote the Broedeerlijk Delen activities by which they support Indian tribal communities in India, and also to showcase the products made by these community. Over the last 7 years, we have conducted more than 15 such fund-raising activities and funded more than 40 projects in around 15 states of India. Notable among our accomplishments are a project for EUR 10,000 for reconstruction of a school destroyed by the 2004 Tsunami, a project of EUR 20,000 for construction of schools for tribal girls, and a mega-project worth EUR 100,000 which has been used for funding more than a dozen projects all over India. more...

ROSE is looking for volunteers to help with its activities. More specifically, we are looking for

• volunteers with Dutch & French fluency - to help with content translation and to speak with interfacing parties
• volunteers with computer expertise - to maintain & upgrade website and to help with event ticketing, publicity material preparation, and document/content management
• volunteers with publicity skills - to increase the donor base with publicity activities and donation drives
• volunteers with language and writing skills - to write proposals to funding agencies, prepare annual/event/project reports, update and add new content on the website
• volunteers with long-term vision - to setup and follow-up collaborations with other organizations
